This apartment refurbishment in Sloane Square underwent a complete redesign in terms of its layout and interior.
Natural polished plaster was applied to the walls to create a soft luxurious feel against the detailed highly decorative ceilings. The large vertical windows were dressed in sheer and warm layers of soft fabric to enhance the incoming natural light and creating focal points within the rooms.
Furniture pieces and light fittings were selected to give both comfort and a modern twist to complement the traditional backdrop. Geometric furniture was introduced in dark colours to give a graphic twist and to contrast against the soft background creating interest and definition to all the rooms.
The dining area and table was crowned with a bespoke Bocci handmade blown glass collection of pendants. The colours of the glass pendants were mixed from gold, blue and magenta to highlight the colours in the client’s belongings and from some of the finishes used in this space. The pendant was hung at a half height to show off the generous height of the room and light the table below.
The kitchen was a simple white glossy finish with high level storage. The kitchen was adorned with a purple flecked marble worktop to add warmth to the area. The kitchen splashback was a sliding opaque glass screen which concealed spices and condiments whilst keeping them from being splashed next to the hob. A bespoke purple floating shelf was added to highlight the marble and house the client’s personal items.
The bedrooms, dressing areas and bathrooms were finished in warm neutral colours to give a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The master bathroom with a free standing bath tub was designed with a large mirrored back vanity area, good lighting and plenty of storage. The shower area was placed next to the bath tub and bounded in a clear glass box.
The dressing rooms were fitted out in large solid veneered cabinets with a dedicated shoe storage ‘the shoe shrine’ with smoked glass doors and shelving to exhibit the client’s collection of shoes.
The completed apartment refurbishment in Sloane Square was an elegant, warm but homely finish. The layout was devised to regain the formal hallway, sitting area with separate television quarters, new master suite and guest quarters. The clients liked to retire away from the hustle and bustle of the city but also socialise with friends and this apartment succeeds at both.
