Our latest completed project is a dental surgery re-design in Wimpole Street, Marylebone.
The clients – a couple of successful young dentists who had just leased the 200 sqm basement from the Howard de Walden Estate – asked us to create a modern surgery with a homely feeling.
The idea of a relaxing and elegant environment, with a nod to the Georgian style of the house in which the surgery is housed was very important to the clients, who missed the elegance of their previous practice in Cavendish Square.
We started with the lighting design, as the practice gets very little natural light and used gold rimmed minimal down-lighters to flood the reception with warm light, up-lighters in the surgeries for a caming working environment and traditional table lamps for the waiting rooms in a traditional drawing room style.
The colour scheme is calm and elegant and provides a good contrast with teh technical equipment and pale blond oak floor.
Thanks to everyone involved: Stanley Reid (contractor), Giovanni Premi at Artemide (lighting consultant and supplier), Pat Giddens (window dressing).
Thank you also to all the staff and the patients at 55 Wimpole street for all the nice comments!
