Archello present the refurbishment of Louise’s studio located in the Alaska Building — a former seal fur factory that was thoughtfully reimagined in the 1930s by the visionary architects behind the celebrated Hoover Building. This remarkable loft conversion expertly takes full advantage of the studio’s impressive 5-meter ceiling height and features a striking full-height original Crittall glass wall, which floods the space with natural light and create a luminous, expansive living environment that feels both open and inviting.
The open-plan sleeping mezzanine maximises the volume, providing a perfect balance of openness and intimacy within the home, ideal for contemporary living. The project balances the building’s rich heritage with modern design sensibilities. Innovative and discreet storage solutions have been seamlessly integrated throughout the space to cater expertly to the needs of a small family, especially for the practical storage of a toddler’s belongings, all without compromising on elegance or comfort.
Flexible partitions have been introduced at the first floor to allow for adaptable privacy, effortlessly responding to the changing rhythms of family life and enhancing the home’s functional versatility. A refined palette of muted, sophisticated tones and carefully curated furnishings have been selected to complement and celebrate the loft’s original architectural features, preserving its historic character while injecting the space with a fresh, contemporary sense of style and sophistication.
Through this sensitive yet innovative design approach, Studio 29 has breathed vibrant new life into an underutilised space, creating a residence that exemplifies both style and functionality—true to the ethos and expertise of one of London’s leading interior architect firms.
